The Northern Lite 610 (often referred to historically or locally as the 610/610HT) is Northern Lite’s dedicated half-ton compatible, four-season truck camper.
Originally a popular cult-classic camper produced in the late 1980s and 1990s, Northern Lite redesigned and relaunched the 610 to cater directly to half-ton truck owners (Ford F-150, Chevy/GMC 1500, RAM 1500) who want a true hard-side, cold-weather capable rig without needing a heavy-duty three-quarter or one-ton truck.
What Makes the 610 Stand Out
1. Two-Piece Clam-shell Fibreglass Shell
Unlike typical wood- or aluminum-framed campers with glued seams that can eventually leak, Northern Lite constructs its campers using a top-and-bottom molded fibreglass shell joinery system (similar to a boat hull). This provides extreme durability, structural integrity, and superior leak resistance.
2. True Four-Season Capability
Even at a lightweight 1,500 lbs, the 610 does not skimp on winter usability:
Heated Basement: Houses the 15-gallon fresh and grey water tanks within a heated compartment to protect against freezing.
Truma Combi Heating System: Features the German-engineered Truma Combi combination furnace and water heater, which is extremely quiet and sips propane efficiently.
Thermal Windows: Fitted with Dometic S4 deluxe dual-pane acrylic windows for insulation and noise reduction.
3. Off-Grid Power Ready
Standard 400W solar panel setup mounted on the roof.
Integrated 12V DC compressor refrigerator (approx. 3.0 cu. ft.) that runs efficiently off solar/battery power.
Dedicated interior compartment built to hold up to two 100Ah Lithium batteries.
4. Compact Wet/Cassette Setup
To keep weight low, the 610 skips a bulky traditional black tank plumbing system in favor of a Thetford cassette toilet, making waste dumping easy at any standard toilet or dump station without needing a sewer hose connection.
