The Forest River Rockwood Hard Side 213HS (often referred to as the A213HS) is a popular A-frame camper that bridges the gap between a traditional travel trailer and a lightweight pop-up. Its standout feature is the front dormer, which provides extra headroom and vertical space that many standard A-frames lack.
Why People Like the A213HS
The Sleeping Setup: Unlike most campers that use a cramped dinette conversion, the 213HS features two twin beds at the rear that can be converted into a massive King-sized bed using an insert.
The Dormer: The front of the unit “pops out” further than a standard A-frame, giving you a much more open feel over the kitchen and dinette area.
Easy Towing & Storage: Since it folds down to a height of just 5′ 8″, it fits in most standard garages and creates significantly less wind drag on the highway compared to a full-sized trailer.
Bear-Country Approved: Because it has hard fiberglass walls (rather than canvas), it is generally permitted in campgrounds like Yellowstone’s Fishing Bridge, where soft-sided pop-ups are often restricted due to wildlife.
Interior Features & Amenities
Kitchen: Equipped with a 3-burner indoor range, a 12V refrigerator (paired with a roof-mounted solar panel), and a microwave.
Climate Control: Includes a 10,000 BTU under-bunk A/C unit and a 20,000 BTU furnace for cold-weather camping.
The Bathroom: This model specifically includes a Port-A-Potty tucked away inside—a major convenience for those middle-of-the-night trips.
Storage: The “EZ Reach” front storage trunk is massive and accessible from the outside, perfect for bulky gear like chairs and grills.
