The 2026 Forest River Rockwood Freedom 1640FT (often referred to by its floorplan name rather than “1640ft”) is a compact, lightweight pop-up tent camper designed for easy towing by many SUVs and minivans.
Notable Features
Power Roof Lift: A standard feature in the Freedom series that eliminates the manual cranking usually associated with older pop-ups.
Solar Power: Comes with 125W roof-mounted solar panel and a 12V refrigerator, allowing for better performance while “boondocking” (camping without hookups).
Climate Control: Includes a 20,000 BTU furnace for cold nights and a 15,000 BTU under-bunk A/C unit, which is a high-output cooling option for a camper of this size.
Exterior Setup: Equipped with a 7′ awning with LED lighting and an exterior griddle, perfect for outdoor cooking.
