The Northern Lite 8-11EX Limited Edition (LE) Dry Bath is a premium, non-slide, four-season truck camper designed specifically for short-bed trucks. As the “Limited Edition” model, it represents the highest trim level offered by Northern Lite, featuring upgraded solar power, luxury interior finishes, and high-end windows that aren’t standard on the Special Edition or Sportsman models.
Why the “Dry Bath” Matters
The 8-11EX is famous for being one of the few short-bed truck campers to offer a true dry bath.
Layout: The toilet is separated from the shower area by a divider or curtain, meaning the entire bathroom doesn’t get wet when you shower.
Space: Northern Lite added 4 inches to the original 8-11 mold specifically to create a more functional, “roomier” dry bath without sacrificing dinette space or hallway width.
Limited Edition Exclusive Features
The LE trim differentiates itself from the Special Edition (SE) through several luxury and functional upgrades:
Solar Power: Features 600 Watts of solar (3 x 200W panels) as standard, compared to the 200–400W typical on lower trims.
Windows: Upgraded to Dometic S5 windows, which feature a top-hung design and integrated honeycomb pleated blinds for better insulation and infinite positioning.
Interior Finish: Includes a solid Sapele hardwood table and premium leatherette seating.
Exterior: Distinctive raised chrome graphics and integrated exterior speakers.
Construction & Design
Two-Piece Clamshell: Like all Northern Lites, it is built using two fiberglass shells (top and bottom) joined like a boat. This design eliminates most seams, significantly reducing the risk of leaks.
Four-Season Rated: The camper features a heated and enclosed basement, double-pane acrylic windows, and block foam insulation, making it capable of handling extreme Canadian winters or desert summers.
Cabover: Features a North-South 60″ x 80″ queen bed, meaning you don’t have to crawl over your partner to get out of bed.
Pro Tip: Because of its ~3,000 lb dry weight (which can exceed 4,000 lbs once loaded with water, gear, and passengers), this camper is best suited for a 1-ton (3500/F-350) short-bed truck to ensure you stay within the payload capacity.
